When Big Daddy is out of town, sometimes I let Peanut go to sleep with me in our bed.

Peanut: Mama! Keep the light on!

Bad Mama: No, Peanut, it’s time to go to sleep.

Peanut: But I want to sleep with the light on!

Bad Mama: No, Peanut, I can’t sleep with the light on. I’m right here with you, the light is going out.

<Repeat variations of this until she falls asleep>

Later on, at Grammy’s house …

Peanut: I’m tired.

Grammy: Why are you tired? Did you have trouble sleeping last night?

Peanut: Yes, Mama turned the light on and wouldn’t turn it off, so I couldn’t sleep.

Why must they torment us so! My son is younger and less verbal than the peanut but he still manages things like “Want crackers!” Give him crackers. “NO CRACKERS!!!!!!!!!”
